Discoloration of the teeth is a normal process that comes with aging and our consuming habits. Coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, tobacco use, medications can all contribute to the staining of the teeth.

Patients age 15 and above can benefit from teeth whitening procedure and enhance their smile. It is absolutely safe procedure if done under the dentists supervision.

It is important to talk to Dr Ana and Dr Dejan before deciding to whiten your teeth, as whiteners may not correct all types of discoloration. For example, yellow teeth will probably bleach well, brown teeth may not respond as well. Whitening will not work on crowns, veneers, or fillings. It also might not be as effective if your tooth discoloration is caused by certain medications or a tooth injury.

Teeth whitening is a simple process. Whitening products contain one of two tooth bleaches (hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide) and come in forms of a strip or liquid agent. These bleaches break stains into smaller pieces, which makes the color less concentrated and your teeth brighter. Based on the impressions fabricated in our office you will be provided with clear bleaching trays and bleaching agent. Closely following our instructions and recommendations you will wear the bleaching trays for 10-14 days during night time.  Digital photographs will be made before you start the treatment and at follow-up visit to monitor the results of the process.

It is possible that you will experience little discomfort such as sensitivity to cold, heat or pressure during the whitening process. This type of sensitivity is transient and disappears within a few days after the completion of the treatment.

The results of treatment will depend a lot on your proper oral hygiene and dietary habits. After evaluation and depending on your goals “touch-up” treatments can be indicated to enhance the smile further or to maintain the achieved results. We are ready to help you make your smile even more beautiful!
