Tooth Extractions

Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth that is infected, broken or has a hopeless prognosis. While we strive to avoid the need to remove a tooth whenever possible, certain conditions make the tooth extraction the most effective option for returning your smile to good health and function. Before having the tooth extracted Dr Ana and Dr Dejan will be happy to discuss and explain tooth replacement treatments available to restore your smile to optimal health, beauty, and function. It is very important to replace a lost tooth. Long term consequences of a lost tooth may include migration of adjacent and opposing teeth, detrimental changes in occlusion and jaw joints function as well as decreased chewing function and changes in phonetics.

Several conditions may necessitate tooth extraction. Among these are:

  • Severe infection that has destroyed a significant portion of the tooth and supporting bone structure
  • Serious decay that has damaged a tooth beyond repair, making a successful restoration impossible
  • Extraction of the teeth as a part of orthodontic treatment plan, or broad restorative rehabilitation
  • Extraction of primary teeth to alleviate eruption of permanent teeth

We use great care and specific skills when performing a tooth extraction to ensure that your dental experience is as comfortable and painless as possible. After the removal of the tooth you will be provided with detailed post-treatment care instructions so you can properly take care of your smile as it heals.
